GRANT DEVELOPMENT & FUNDING STRATEGY
Build a More Competitive Research Proposal
Senior-level scientific and strategic support to sharpen the central proposition, clarify objectives, strengthen the methodology and work plan, address feasibility and risk, and align the proposal with the priorities of the intended funder.

WHEN THIS SERVICE HELPS
Support Matched to the Stage of Your Proposal
Early Concept Development
The research idea is promising, but the central proposition, strategic fit, aims, or route to delivery still needs definition.
Active Proposal Development
A call has been selected and the scientific rationale, objectives, methods, work packages, or impact case require structured development.
Pre-Submission Review
The proposal is substantially complete and needs an independent assessment of coherence, feasibility, funder alignment, and reviewer readability.
WHAT SUPPORT CAN INCLUDE
Grant Development Grounded in Scientific Strategy
Competitive proposals need more than persuasive language. They must present an important question, a credible route to an answer, a feasible plan, and a clear reason the work belongs with the chosen funder.
Applicants retain ownership of the research idea, proposal, decisions, and final submission.
01 — Central Proposition
Define the problem, knowledge gap, significance, and central proposition that give the application intellectual focus.
02 — Aims & Objectives
Develop precise, connected objectives that are ambitious enough to matter and specific enough to be evaluated.
03 — Work Plan & Logic
Build a coherent progression from aims to methods, work packages, milestones, dependencies, and outputs.
04 — Methods, Feasibility & Risk
Test whether the proposed approach can answer the question and whether resources, alternatives, and risks are addressed credibly.
05 — Funder Alignment
Position the proposal around the call, assessment criteria, intended beneficiaries, and expectations of the review panel.
06 — Review & Refinement
Improve clarity, consistency, reviewer navigation, and the relationship between scientific ambition and deliverability.
HOW IT WORKS
A Structured, Collaborative Process
01
Share the Opportunity

02
Agree the Scope
We confirm priorities, deliverables, timeline, feedback stages, revision allowance, and fee before work begins.
03
Develop & Refine
The proposal is strengthened through focused scientific review, strategic development, and collaborative revision within the agreed scope.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before You Enquire
Do you write the proposal on behalf of the applicant?
No. The strongest work is collaborative. We help applicants develop the scientific case, structure, logic, and communication while they retain ownership and responsibility for the proposal.
Can you help before a funding call has been selected?
Yes. Early strategic work can assess the project concept, readiness, likely funding routes, and the evidence or partnerships required before committing to a call.
Can you guarantee funding?
No. Helical Scientific strengthens proposals and funding strategy but does not guarantee an award, review score, shortlist, interview, or any other funding outcome.
How is confidentiality handled?
Initial enquiries and proposal materials are handled confidentially. The agreed scope can include a confidentiality agreement and secure file-transfer arrangements where appropriate.
Ready to Develop a Stronger Proposal?
Share the funder, call, current stage, and relevant deadline. We will recommend an appropriate scope of support and confirm the deliverables, timeline, and fee before work begins.
